Re: Religious Prohibitions Leading to Safe-tech
the typical usage of translators don't normal need a translator that knows lots of languages long term. so tempt hire for the rare usage and for the long term use of a small subset of language need the is the exact same long term hire solution as any other assistant or servant hire. Which basical a non issue if you higher a translate service rather than a transliterate where you draw on a pool of translators that you share with others and the people runing the service balances leave and availabilities hours with demand time to make sure there is some available.

Plus "It can serve as multiple translators simultaneously! And be turned off! Also, you might be able to not have to pay it!" is useful but it really doesn't bring out people's enthusiasm.

People break the law if they think they can get away with it. It doesn't have to be the rainbow covered ice cream of wants to make a profit for smugglers.

My point was that the actual practical effects of AI are far off when you start and many of them people only thought of after decades of AI research or can be done by just normal people instead. AI needs enthusiasm to even get to the point it's at now and the practical uses people can think of in the beginning won't supply that. |

That might make sense, yes. There are some pretty big potential ethical landmines buried in that ground...
