Default GURPS Classic: Bestiary

"Kill it, you eat it"
Is the Hunter's Code . . . damn it,
Why'd I hit that skunk?
— Sir Chiselkey, staring at his roadkill
If it crawls, swims, or flies, you know the heroes will want to fight it or tame it. And when it comes to populating your game with hundreds of different critters, there's nothing quite as helpful and useful as GURPS Classic: Bestiary.

This guide includes statistics -- written for Third Edition but easily adapted via GURPS Update -- for over 200 different animals, both real and fictional. But rather than just listing simple stat-blocks, GURPS Classic: Bestiary delves deeply into each critter, discussing everything from diet and habitat to instincts and mindset. And what guide would be complete without rules for training, trapping, and fighting Mother Nature's best?

Whether you want magical jackalopes for your fantasy setting, time-displaced dinosaurs for your superheroes to fight, or believable horse and dog stats for your "Boys In Blue" Action game, GURPS Classic: Bestiary is here and roaring to go!

Will there ever be a 4th edition bestiary?

There are several already. (While that list includes a few Classic books, the majority are Fourth Edition.) Not to mention, quite a few other Fourth Edition books that, while not explicitly bestiaries, feature plenty of critters to fight. That said, we're certainly always looking to release more.

As PK said, there's a bunch. If you mean "A 128+ page hardcover", that's pretty unlikely. Even a 128+ page pdf is pretty unlikely - the current business model is smaller chunks; 64 pages or less for the most part.

Something that I'd like to see for all these beasts along with the pdfs would be them being created in GCA4.

While some of the science is out of date (an inevitability given that it's been seventeen years...where does the time go?), this is an invaluable resource in lieu of a full 4E GURPS Bestiary. I'm glad to see it finally get its PDF added to the Classics collection.

Theres only approximately 64 pages of animal statistics here.

Id be pretty happy with that as a 4E book.

Id say remove some animals like the platypus (pretty much impossible to encounter in real or game life and Im dubious about requiring specific stats for it).
