Casey and Andy author is a long-time GURPS fan. Like the Girl Genius situation, except the author actually had time to put into the project.

That make it clear?

On a side note it would be nice to see them revisit Blood Types as there is a lot more information (such as Theresa Bane's 2010 Encyclopedia of Vampire Mythology ISBN 9780786444526) to pull from now. If you are interested the gurps wikia page on Blood Types has cross referenced the original information with both the book and a web site based on Bane's work.

Licensing issues aside. Both VtM and Mars Attacks are campaing settings, while Bloodtypes and Mars are genre books (correct me if I'm mistaken, please).

It's like saying that Banestorm (setting) is redundant with GURPS Fantasy and GURPS Dungeon Fantasy (genres), because they're all about Medieval Fantasy.

And even genre books overlap a little. In 4th edition, we got both GURPS Horror and GURPS Zombies, even though Zombies is a Horror Trope, it was considered deserving of a dedicated book.

GURPS Blood Types isn't even a Genre book. It's a bestiary, like GURPS Shapeshifters or GURPS Spirits (and I would consider it the start of that "meta series")

GURPS Aliens was a bestiary.

GURPS Blood Types got away from that with only 32 of its 124 pages (excluding bibliography and index) devoted to the "critters". GURPS Spirits devotes only 18 of its 121 pages to creatures (13 general "types"). By contrast GURPS Shapeshifters goes detail happy so its 11 general types take up 58 pages of its 119 pages (not counting the 9 pages of glossary, bibliography and index)

Are you saying that you consider Blood Types and Spirits not as Bestiaries?
If so what would you label them as?
I consider them as Bestiaries even though a lot of content is related background and ideas to help make your own. Same with Faerie.

Genre with examples/racial templates (quasi-bestiaries). The 4e Basic set's Chapter 7 simplified matter with Meta-Traits which would have allowed more in the same amount of space. See the process that led to three versions of the Lich I wrote up a long time ago for an example.

I see them as Genre books with examples/racial templates that help you create similar beings.

A Bestiary in GURPS is more like GURPS Aliens or the Creatures of the Night series

So comparing it with VtM makes less sense than I expected.

VtM is a setting, you could use blood types with VtM, right?

GURPS Mars Attacks sugests using GURPS Aliens as an inspiration for new Alien Races.

You could use Blood Types as an inspiration for VtM as well, right?

Yes to both, though the Vampires in VtM are rather different but you could at least use Blood Types for basic templates and power ideas.

On a side note the one thing I remember from reading GVtM was it didn't "feel" right. I think it was due with the way the book was structured.
