Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Try this quirk. Uncontrollable Hair Syndrome, I'll post a url later. Basically the hair follicles are oddly shaped and the hair of these people always looks messy. A minor inconvenience but it can get quirk level negative reactions.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
I think that might be just a specific reason for Unattractive.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Perhaps, still it is a real world genetic trait and thus fits THS.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Sure, but there doesn't seem to be any reason you can't describe it as "We can genetically engineer your child to be unattractive." The challenge would be to think of a reason some group of people would be a market for that particular change.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Unique physical appearance. Some anime figures have unruly hair as a trademark and with the active lack of sanity apparently seen in some TS gene selectors it's very hard to say "No, nobody would actually do _that_.".

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Disadvantages are probably more likely to be the bugs of new inventions (including side effects of desired advantages) than deliberately marketed aspects.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
Agreed. I started this thread with the idea on coming up with biotech realistic perks and quirks to just cover that sort of thing.

My mom does something different to hers but it now looks normal. So I can't imagine an ultra-tech setting that is unable to alter genetic hair styles.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks
It's still no different than making your child have curly or straight hair. It's too easily changed when adult to make sense even as a minor perk or quirk.
