We went with the disengaging figure can be attacked at a DX differential rule -- it seemed more logical based on our various experiences with things like fencing and SCA combat. (We also had copies of every edition of everything, because we kept wearing out the components.) We were kind of surprised when AM reverted to the original rule (though, frankly, my memory may be playing tricks here, since it's possible the "5th edition" rule was actually published AFTER AM was...).

Interesting. Not my experience at all, either in stick fighting or in free-for-all fencing.

I guess I must have a higher adjDX than you.
