Ogre Board Game Rules Clarification
I just bought a copy of ogre the board game and one rule that is giving me trouble understanding is how ogres interact with infantry after the antipersonnel weapons are destroyed or used up. According to my understanding the ogre can’t move through a space they occupy so if the antipersonnel gun is destroyed and all the infantry box the ogre in he can’t move and loses. Do I understand that right? It seems like an easy win for the defense and a huge advantage. Thanks!

Re: Ogre Board Game Rules Clarification
An Ogre can always enter a hex with an enemy unit. If the enemy unit is an Ogre or an armor unit, it Rams. If the enemy unit is infantry and the Ogre has working AP guns, the infantry is stepped down. If the enemy unit is infantry and the Ogre has no AP guns, nothing happens to either the Ogre or the infantry.

It's also worth pointing out this is not an "easy" win if that were the case.
Completely stripping an Ogre of all weapons (including the AP) is nearly impossible. If you are shooting at AP instead of treads, you are doing it wrong and will likely see your CP get crushed. :-)

It may also be worth it to note that a hex in Ogre is 1.5 km across -- there's plenty of room for an Ogre and some INF to both occupy it if you need some handwavium.

If you have this problem in the Basic or Advanced Scenario then you are doing a superb job of driving your ogre. The GEV rules for overruns are a lot of fun, and don't have this restriction. |

Thanks everyone for the clarification! That makes a lot more sense.

Re: Ogre Board Game Rules Clarification
Just to be completely clear, it's been FAQ'd that driving over INF is not a ram and does not apply to this (even though the rules use the word "ram" when talking about running into the hex with INF). An ogre _can_ drive through as many hexes of INF as it has movement available. That means a Mark IV that has M4 could reduce 4 squads of INF in 4 different hexes during a single movement phase.

And now I'm picturing a follow-up to the Kovalic Ogre / Duck combo, with Spyke and Flower chasing an Ogre...with the "Orc-" in "Orc-B-Gone" crossed out and "Ogre-" scribbled in next to it. (Squish is a keyword in the CCG, having a meaning similar to 'Sacrifice' in MtG)...
