Default Gurps Religion: Worth it?

Well, that's a silly question, it's GURPS, so it's obviously worth it! But seriously: What are the strengths and weaknesses of that book?

A little background that might help a little bit. I'm looking to make a elven state cult (worshippers who are elves, not who worship elves. Although that could be cool) for a very far away fantasy game, and I'm curious if it will provide me enough information to make something believable, and cool.

I think it had alternate magic systems. I think most of this has made it into 4e one way (thaumatology) or another.

SO unless there is somehting else you want in the TOC.

It's almost entirely about religion in general from a gaming and interesting background perspective. It really helps completely non-religious-spiritual-metaphysical-etc. people like me to understand motifs and other common features of belief systems.

It's a supplement for world builders, so it fits the needs of the OP quite well.

Really, its only weakness is that it's 3e. It's an excellent book.

Given that we have Thaumatology and Social Engineering for the two most related pieces of crunch, does it matter?

Though I built my religions for Celestial Ocean without it.

Not that this makes an actual difference when Magic hasn't really been updated for 4e.

For world builders interested in the 'fluff' Religions can be most useful, as any GURPS book.

But for proper verisimilitude, you should remember to put in a few schisms and internal consistencies for believers to argue about. It just isn't religion, child raising techniques, or politics for that matter without a few shouting matches. :)

Alright, cool. I'm going to pick this one up soon. I'm primarily interested in the fluff aspects of it (since I have Magic, Powers, Thaumatology, and what not, I have the rules covered) so this book should have what I need.
