[DF] Animate objects spell: how is intended to work?
Hello,
Do you have some suggestions on how to manage the "animate objects" spells? Is it indend to provide an "attacker" object or is just for flavour? The description just allude to a simple distraction, or at most some kind of disarming maneuver. What are some suggested uses? Do you have any idea for a suitable template to apply to the animated objects of different weights? Do animate object "attack" with their skills, or with the skill of the caster? I'm quite a bit confused about this spell and I don't relly now how to adjudicate it... |

Another question: is the "animation" spell exactly the necromantic counterpart of "animate objects"? That is, are they the same spell?

Re: [DF] Animate objects spell: how is intended to work?
Animate Object, the Making And Breaking spell, works very much like the Animation modifier for Telekinesis. In particular, the item animated has IQ 0, and must be controlled like a puppet (note the concentration requirement).
Animation, the Necromancy spell, actually places a spirit in an object, but you're limited in the types of objects it can be cast upon. The spirit controlled object can be given orders and will usually follow them, although it's a bit dull and somewhat literal. Despite the similarity in the names, the two spells are actually pretty different. |
