Default Cardboard Hero Bases Too Loose?

Have many folks used the Cardboard Hero Bases that came with the DFRPG box? If so are the included figures very loose in the bases? Mine are so loose that the base will not stay on the figure when I pick it up or move them around. For vintage CHs and their bases of the time, and other modern figures like the Paizo Tokens, they were all snug enough that the figure and base were one when playing games. I love the new CHs and the new bases and would love to use them in my new game, but they aren't usable unless I find a way to add some material to keep them snug.

Thanks.

/pulls out bases and cardboard figures for the very first time to give them a try...

I find mine are perfect. I didn't even realize this was how they were designed, I love the set-up. I can see that with time and heavy usage the cardboard might compact, making the figure not fit snugly, so a lot of use might mess them up. I don't know, having literally never used this base style before (I love that it doesn't mar the cardboard, that's awesome).

Humidity and temperature can affect the fit of any two parts of disparate materials, sadly. My experience is that in very dry areas, the cardboard tends to fit less snugly . . . though I don't counsel soaking your figures in water.

Oh yeah, that would do it. Austin is a lot drier than Florida...

Hey Jack, maybe put some cellophane tape on the figure where it goes into the base (or on the base if that's possible)? Give just a smidge more thickness?

Has anyone found the cardboard to be TOO thick? Trying to get a feel for the spread of the issue here. Ours in hte office are not tight, but they don't fall off.

Mine are fine, but a little masking tape on the bottom of the figure will probably solve the looseness problem just fine.

Like the others, mine fit just about perfect, though they are loose enough that the bottoms could be knocked off if they're hit.

If you find they're too loose a piece of tape at the bottom of the figure should fix the fit.

I wanted to wait until after our session last night to reply so I could test them out. We had 7 PC figures used and about half of them were too loose to pick up and have the base stay attached. I was able to try different bases and find some that held on enough to slide around and stay, as opposed to picking up. But even the ones that did stay attached only did so barely. None of them were what I would call acceptably snug.

I may try the clear tape suggestion on the pieces we end up using most.

To address the humidity/location issue we are in Austin, TX.

Thanks.

Which is also where our office is, of course. So you've got thinner counters or wider base slots than we do, or a tiny bit of both. It's probably easier to change specs for the base slots next time - there is always going to be a little bit of variance in paper stock. As long as they don't get TOO tight.

Most of mine are loose in the stands as well, loose enough that they fall out when they are picked up.

I live in Saskatoon, SK.
