Default (re)loaded die

I have a friend who insists he can use a loaded die to replace a six sided die with a ten sided die (ten side up, of course).

His evidence is page four, which says :

...the Loaded Die and Reloaded Die let you reroll any die.
I argue if not rerolled unless the die was actually rolled to begin with. Of course you don't technically reroll anyway, but rather reposition.

I'd greatly appreciated an official answer - thanks!

You have to use the appropriate die for the situation. You cannot substitute one die for another by using the Loaded Die or Reloaded Die cards.
