Re: Ideas Are Easy
Dungeon Fantasy campaign where the party visits a magical painting gallery - the magical paintings each warp the party to a dungeon/super-adventure/megadungeon (see: Mario 64, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, The Painted World from Dark Souls 1).
You just have to touch the painting to warp to its dungeon. The painting dungeons have warp points back to the gallery inside, so going back to town is less of a hassle (if you can make it to a warp point...) and the party can use the Connoisseur (Fine Art) skill to intercept the symbolism of a painting and analyse the artist to gain info on the dungeon's monsters, treasure, puzzles, etc. (Just like with Research, Current Affairs, and other skills, with the usual dungeons.) The gallery curator occasionally changes the paintings on display, putting some into storage and others on display. The party can use influence skills to convince him to keep paintings for dungeons they want to explore on display. Donations to the gallery upgrades the dungeons (art restorations restock the he treasure, gives better treasure, new areas in the dungeon, less threatening enemies, etc.) or adds new ones (the curator bought new paintings). Donations may also buy fancier decorations (better treasure or combat bonuses in dungeons), commemorative plaques thanking the party (reactions bonuses in dungeons AND in town), social events for the gallery (new NPCs) and meetings with artists (bonuses to researching the dungeon). |

Re: Ideas Are Easy
The magic in the painting needs a gallery pedestal (among other things) to work, so the party gets dumped back out into the gallery the second the painting is removed from its display.

Transhuman space but without ghosts and SAI...at least non-biological SAI. There's a greater emphasis on biological transhumanism with genetic engineering, biocomputers, and bio and cyber implants.

So, what does the TSA do when they find a set of objects and materials for decanically-boosted spell-casting in someone's luggage?

So the emoji movie seems like a giant pile of poop (played by Sir Patrick Stewart) but maybe the idea has some currency in a game world. Could you imagine playing an emoji? What emoji?

Re: Ideas Are Easy
Well, a lot of them will look like souvenirs. Others will look like smuggled cultural artifacts. And some of the creepy ones may require alternative transportation.
Carry on luggage is where the most scrutiny is. I'm reminded of the weird life weirdness where scientists talk about going through security with weird stuff. mostly biologists. I suspect a lot of decanic materials will go through easier. I'm wondering where the best place to use that in a campaign is. The best idea so far is a short campaign where the players are folks on the inside transporting questionable magical materials around the country for traveling mages. Often with weird properties, or with important deadlines. I don't think I'd do it for years, but you could have some fun with the ideas. You never know if the challenge is in the transport, in the curse on the item, or on the mage who actually owns the item trying to retrieve his property!

Re: Ideas Are Easy
A bunch of monsters hunker down in a cave for the night, and an old monster offers them a treasure map that leads to an inn full of adventurers (and thus adventurer loot) in exchange for the leg roasting over the fire and the pants that were previously covering it.
