Something I've been contemplating is reducing iterative blocks to -4. Just flat out -4, enough of this "shields are big and hard to move and are held immobile" nonsense.

Also allowing for a Buckler skill, a "Fencing" shield skill if you will, to get a better iterative block off of small and medium shields, but carry the restrictions (excepting the restriction versus flails*) of Fencing skills.

* Maybe only with a medium shield. A small shield might still be too small to parry flails. Maybe? But mostly I'm looking to get further away from the glut of "ambidextrous dual wielding saber/edged epee Weapon Master" fencers I've been seeing...

Ceteri Campaign, Season 0, Ep 9. We settle in after the latest time skip (about two years) as young adults about to get out on our own. We are concerned that a recent heat wave is either not natural, or being taken advantage of. We're proven right, and discover that in all probability Boston's homeless are being menaced by a pack of ghouls. We do recon and lay plans to fight them.

Thursday is GURPSDay! I've actually got a dedicated GURPSDay post today, but also, I did a lot of musing on shields this week. One of those got picked up by a prominent HEMA instructor, and went big. Well, big for me. But there's a lot on making shields more interesting. Still: it's GURPSDay, so let's get started.

Thursday is GURPSDay, and today I threw down some musings about differentiating martial artists by using Techniques. Not by buying new ones, but by shifting existing penalties around a bit to represent cost-neutral favoring of one type of learning for another. Needs GM approval and some common sense to ensure that it's done right, but it avoids the question of technique pricing by being zero sum.

The Ceteri B-Team executes the recon in force into the tunnels and train station. We are expecting a straight-up search-and-fight; what we get is a rescue situation that is also search-and-fight. The ghouls are much less tough than we think, for Reasons. The final fight is much, much tougher for Other Reasons. Some character-driven plot points take dangerous turns for the worse. A solid game.

My last two days at GenCon. I run a game. I'm a panelist for the first time. I play the DFRPG Boxed Set with Sean Punch. I attend a Delta Green panel, and spend 100 minutes with Kenneth Hite. I get fifty cards from artists, and pick up swag. I tear down the IGDN booth.

Good days.

I have been training with a 30cm-ish diameter punch buckler for years (and lately weirdly with weighted chain, though not at the same time). It probably shouldn't be especially good against flexible weapons at all.

Thursday is usually GURPSDay, but GenCon50 messed me up. So here's a belated GURPSDay, which will return to it's usual schedule on Thursday.
