Default I think Physician skill should be a VH skill.

I know that students of College of Medicine struggle on their lots of class and study hours than students of other College, and nevertheless they recieve more trainings to get specialist certificate.
In Korea the students take 6 years of the struggling studies to be a GP and more 5 years to be a specialist. Students of the other major take only 4 years of relatively-easy studies to graduate.

And the default of Physician is IQ-7, like the other VH skills. Other Hard skills' default is Attribute-6. Isn't it?

So I think Physician skill should be VH skill, not Hard skill.

What's your opnion? Should I report it to Errata?

Report it if it seems like a mistake to you. Doesn't mean they'll correct it. Public forum opinions do not usually decide these things.

If you want, in your games, Physician to be VH, you can do it, it's your game. The rest doesn't matter.

Well. Physics and Biology are IQ-6 VH skills.

I am not saying it shouldn't be VH.

But when you base it on how difficult the studies are, you have to take into account that those studies cover a lot more skills than just Physician.

You are likely also getting training in several of the following medical skills:
Diagnosis
Electronic operation (Medical)
First Aid
Expert skill (Epidemiology)
Pharmacy
Physiology
Psychology

And also some degree of;
Research
Writing
Body language
Diplomacy

Very Hard skills have prodigious scope, or are alien, counterintuitive, or deliberately shrouded in secrecy. The most fundamental of sciences, and many potent magic spells and secret martial-arts techniques, are Very Hard.
As p.B168 says.
I think Physisican skill is one of "skills have prodigious scope".

the reason medics study so much is because they can't afford to make mistakes, not because of the difficulty.

A medic should have a high level of skill to treat people. Meanwhile engineers may get to be assistants or have a job with no dangerous consequences if they "fail their roll", some money lost maybe but no human lives at risk; when there are lives at stake in engineering there are safety protocols and practices, and a lot of safety equipment to account for those "failed rolls". Engineering is just an example, many professional skills allow the professionals to make mistakes and many only cost time or money, a mistake in a medical diagnostic or treatment is a lot of discomfort for someone at best and a death sentence at worst.

Edit:
Also, a medic learns pharmacy, first aid and other skills that are not just Physician. Then many specialize and learn other skills (like electronic operation) and narrowing their field of knowledge (in GURPS is an optional specialization I believe).

If you put aside the name "Physician" and look at what it does in GURPS. Then it's used for "tending the sick and wounded".
Mechanically, helping wounded recover HP faster or recover crippled limbs faster.

This has, historically, been a job taken by people who do not have the highest academic education. But have a more broad education and a lot of practical knowledge: 'Holy men' and 'wise woman', monks, nuns, nurses and moms.

This tells me that it does NOT have "prodigious scope". But is in fact something anyone can learn, but is difficult to master.

Optional Specialties exist for roleplaying that kinds of characters. Doesn't it?

Well. Things that students of College Of Medicine studies (e.g. anatomy) is notorious for its broadness and difficulty. Isn't it?

That is why it is hard to be a medic. And Physician is a hard skill, in part because of that broad knowledge. VH is for something more complex.

Remember medics study many other skills, not just physician.
