Boats couldn't carry enough armor to make decent rams.

The typical "backup load" was a passenger with a HAVR.

Which also doubles as a light anchor.

Nah -- if he runs out of ammo, he jumps, and the boat is 150 lbs. lighter. :)

I've seen a Yacht with a Metal/Plastic Ramplate . Even with a Jet Drive it had only a Top Speed of 27.5 mph & couldn't hit anything . Did cause a Cruiser to accidentally ground trying to get out the way , but that was it ...

It might have been useful in sinking some Amphibious Armoured Cars (Top Speed 10 or 15 mph) , which could be otherwise invulnerable to most Boat mounted Weaponry ?

It's pretty sad that amphibious modification cars are probably better than boats

For the cost and weight, one can take a design with a MD or similar, replace it with the AM, and have a decent "boat"; but it'll still be a full Division's worth more expensive than a normal boat.

For ex.: A _Defender_ (_VG1_) with AM vice MD, and no other mods, is $20,910, as opposed to the land version's $15,910. Dropping the TC brings it into Div. 20. It's a bit faster (TS 60) than a comparable boat, and has a Top built in; but it has only the one gun, and is still vulnerable to the mass-torp attack.

Depends on the arena -- it would be... embarrassing... for the car-based boat to avoid a massed-torp strike by driving out of the water.
