TSR actually had the best quote about magic in the Marvel Universe:

"Magic ... is a can of worms that once open is difficult to close."

Even though it saw print in the '80s, it's still quoted in veterans of my group.

Party is all riding an extremely bouncy dinosaur pel mel across the landscape at 50mph via 128-yard-leaps.

PC1: "Where did you get this?"
PC2, who got a military title recently: "It came with the badge!"

(The badge is magic, the dinosaur is literally conjured out of it.)

Players waiting for D5e GM to get something loaded on Fantasy Grounds....

Player 1: If it doesn't work we could skip the combat, use Hillfolk rules maybe.

Player 2: That's social combat, the monk and fighter will be hosed.

Player 3 [The fighter]: Social combat? (SMACK! gesture) I win!!

Player 1: That's ANTI-social combat?

Player 3: I STILL win.

----
Later in the dungeon.

GM: You open the door, there's a short corridor and more doors.

Player 1: I cross and open the middle door.

Player 2: Stop! We brought a thief for a reason, dude.

Player 3 [The fighter]: One does not simply walk into more doors...

All: Groans!

GM: Inspiration for everyone.

From yesterday's Skull and Shackles session.

"I have been waiting 9 levels to do that."

"Who''d have thunk it. I get a new Domain Power and it totally nerfs 3 monster encounters in one day!"

"What are we going to name this ruined fort now that it's ours?"

"Fort Belligerence because it's at B on the map."

"Then I guess we parked or ship out in Aktapus Harbar?"

"Arrr! We pirates don't need no steenkin' standardized orthography!"

Teo: “I hit . . . and do a whopping 1 point of damage.”
Raven (OOC): “That’s unpossible. It’s a two-die attack.”
GM (OOC): “No, she just rolled that badly: Three and negative two!”

Crystal (OOC): “Dancing leads to babies!”
Raven (OOC): “Not when it’s two guys.”

Raven: “I’ll throw a wall in front of the hallway. I don’t think it’ll do much.”
GM: “Whatever makes you feel better.”
Teo (OOC): “You need to get those walls coated with bedliner.”
GM (OOC): “You need to put bedliner . . . on a magical barrier.”

--

Raven: “I told you to bring them out.”
Beast: “They dead.”
Teo (OOC): “He’s not hungry.”

GM: “It’s the first explosion you’ve seen that wasn’t in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. But, he did spoil you, so you’re a little let down.”
Teo (OOC): “And me without my marshmallows.”

--

GM (as Terry): “That’s interesting.”
Rio (OOC): “Pronoun game, one sin. Not finishing the statement, waiting for us to ask, another sin.”

GM: (Describes a crime that happened earlier with a villain in armor resembling a pill-bug)
Angel: “Was this in Florida?”
GM: “No, it was here in Oceanside.”
Angel: “Was he from Florida?”

Rio: “I make Will by 5, so I am not mentally stunned by reading the court documents.”

--

Angel: “I’m just waiting for my costume.”
GM (Rolls a 17): “It does not show up today.”
Rio (OOC): “It’s gotten lost in the mail. You’ll have to order a new one.”

Our dedicated pilot just crit-successed on piloting a badly damage Starfleet runabout so we could use it to power a defense shield:

<LtCalvinLeonidas> "that's my girl"
<LtCalvinLeonidas> "no lightning bolt from the blue is going to keep you down when it counts"
* LtCalvinLeonidas strokes the console gently
<LtJG_Lora_t`Klihanta> "Do you two need a moment alone?"

I have a collection of aphorisms for superheros:
  1. Never bring a gun to a swordfight
  2. Growth is the amazing power to make yourself an easy target
  3. Energy blasts are a power. Marksmanship is a skill
  4. The difference between a common supervillain and a criminal mastermind, is that a common supervillain doesn't tell you the beating you are giving him is all part of his "master plan".
  5. You can't mass-produce awesome
  6. There is no idea so stupid it can't be used to hurt someone
  7. If you wear a cape, make sure it's detachable
  8. Always know which walls are loadbearing
  9. These no-nonsense solutions don't hold water in a complex world of time travel and jet-propelled apes.
  10. When in doubt, break something and hope you're elsewhere when it explodes.
  11. If you don't pick a name, one will be chosen for you.
  12. Pick where you want your impact crater before you leap.
  13. Never trust a clown.
  14. They actually have to be doing something before you get to hit them.
