Ride into the sunset
the card reads (see cardsample)
"This card is worth one level at any time, but if you play it just after killing a monster of level 10 or above, go up two levels... in addition to the level(s) for the monster." The last part is a bit confusing. Does it mean you get the monster level(s) and then a) You go up 2 levels instead of 1 (normal gual) b) you go up 2 levels which are treated as killing levels c) you go up 2 levels + the monster levels again (with gual behaviour) for example the monster is worth 2 levels: a) 2 (from monster) + [2 (gual)] b) 2 (from monster) + [2 (gual) (+ maybe winning the game)] c) 2 (from monster) + [2 (gual) + 2 (from monster)] I guess it is a, but I'm not sure. |

Re: Ride into the sunset
It's (a). In other words, if you use it after killing a Monster, you still get the Level(s) you would from killing it; they are not supplanted by the use of the card. The Levels you get from that card can not be winning Levels.

Re: Ride into the sunset
If you kill a Level 10+ monster, and draw "Ride Into The Sunset" as one of its treasures, can you play it immediately for two levels? Or does the "just after killing" (bold added) imply that RITS has to be played before drawing the monster's Treasure?

Yeah the combat is over after you've already started drawing treasures, so you can only get the extra levels from Ride into the Sunset if it's in your hand at the same time you kill a monster.

Re: Ride into the sunset
As dumb as this sounds, I've always played it as you get the level or 2 levels from beating the monster AND ALSO the levels that the monster had, like if it was level 13 you'd get 13 more levels.
The name of the card implies an epic ending: Ride into the Sunset. Like in the ending to those cowboy movies. |

Re: Ride into the sunset
We've ruled before that if you get a "play after combat" card as part of your treasure for killing a monster, you legally can play it immediately, and I'd extend that ruling to this case. If you get RITS as part of your post-combat draw and play it right then, I'd grant the two levels.
