Default I think GURPS needs a logo

it's something that comes out again and again with my players, one of witch has a D20 tattooed on her arm, D&D has a logo a characteristic set of dice and the advantage to be the precursor of the hobby, in comparison we have a distinct lack of visual shortcuts.

yes there is the SJG logo or if you want the logotype of fourth edition but they both have obvious limitations, a logotype is bigger and honestly less significative than a logomark. and the SJG logo is ambiguous by being a variation of a logo associate with countless entities and by being the logo of an entire company with many and varied products in this space

TLDR: it's hard to 3d print gurps on a dice holder.

I do not disagree.

Of course, GURPS is over 40 years old now, and even 4th edition is nearly 15, so the time when it really needed a logo is a long time ago. Still, it'd have been nice to have a G-in-the-pyramid or something otherwise visually distinctive.

Personally I think the Eye-in-the-Pyramid logo is spiffy and would love to see more dice available to purchase with it on them.

The oculated pyramid is indeed spiffy, but it's already SJG's logo. I'd give GURPS something all its own.

Maybe start with a hexagon. That represents a map hex, of course, and is also the silhouette of a d6 viewed from the right angle.

A G in a triangle in a hexagon would be fairly simple but effective. Might look a little too close for comfort to certain freemason symbols, however (although with the oculated pyramid, SJG may not be too terribly concerned about that).

Well... over 30 at least, 40 would be another 7-8 or so years.

It also needs a theme song. I suggest whoever did this:

(The proceeding has been a joke.)

Once upon a time when I was running the long-defunct wiki at gurps.net, I'd assembled this image as an icon for the site, playing off the standard logotype and colours for Fourth Edition.

Unfortunately, Bhangra musician DJ Gurps passed away early this past summer, so that's a crossover we'll never see.

One thing that might work for GURPS would be 3d6 (like in my GB logo) inside a hexagon, with a pyramid in the background.
