Default Daredevil class Clarification

So I couldn't find a thread about this, so I apologize if it already exists.

The other day we were playing a game and my friend (who was playing as the Daredevil class) kicked down the door only to find a Disaster card waiting for him. He used the Daredevils abilities to run away from the Disaster and succeeded. Which then led to an argument whether he was allowed to then continue his turn as normal. At the time as the game owner I decided he should be allowed to loot the room but after the game I kind of had a change of heart and thought maybe that was the wrong decision. A little help?

He didn't fight a monster, so he's allowed to look for trouble or loot the room.
