Armor Mastery and Inner Layers, Split DR, and Light Mail

Armor Mastery, Adventurers, p. 28, states: "Whenever you wear armor with DR 2+, raise its effective DR by 1."

Layered Armor, p. 109, states: "You can layer some armor, the inner layer adding its DR to that of the outer one (mail adds a flat DR instead of split DR). Permitted inner layers are light cloth or leather (+1 DR), heavy cloth (+2 DR), light mail (+2 DR), and mail (+3 DR). Permitted outer layers are anything with at least DR 3."

I have five questions:

1. Does Armor Mastery increase both layer's DR? For example, does mail give +4 DR when layered below DR 6 Plate (which in turn is treated as DR 7)?
   
2. Does it increase both DR ratings for split-DR armor? For example, does it raise mail's DR 4/2 to DR 5/3?
   
3. Does light mail (DR 3/1) benefit from this trait?
   
4. Is light mail permitted as an outer layer?
   
5. Elven Mail is 4/4. Does it still only give +3 as an inner layer?

EDIT: Answers to #1 and #2 are almost certainly "no" and "yes." I should have checked DF 11: Power-Ups before posting, but it was super late and I was sleepy and headed for bed.

No. Both layers are added together, then Armor Mastery* is added.

* My reasons have to do with the way the ability was originally built for DF, knowing how this sausage was made gives some insight to the intent.

I’d add an Asterisk to the first Light Mail question: There is a case one made for Light Mail getting 4/1 rather than 4/2. However, I’d go with 4/2.

I have a further question: Elven Mail is 4/4. Does it still only give +3 as an inner layer?

I suspect the answer is yes due to the way DFRPG is treating the heavier mail as the inner lining.

There are never in GURPS 4E free points.

This advantage is buying +1 DR and a perk version of armour/suit familiarity.

I wouldn't allow it to get a free point of DR.

The DF equivalent powerup does not.
