Default Zombification Question

We were playing the game when one of the players got the Zombification card. I assumed this meant the cursed player only had to help in combat if asked, however a couple other players interpreted it as he was the player that had to help anytime someone asked for help. Could someone please help clarify which is the case?

"...you must help anyone who asks..." vs. "you must help anyone who asks YOU"

They have to ask the cursed player in order for him to be compelled to help. The cursed player may not always be the best choice of helper. This is especially true if they unequip their items at the end of their turn as Clipper once suggested. However if you know you're going to lose, you can always drag the cursed player in to try to make them get the bad stuff.

The mechanics of asking for help are like this:

Player determines he is losing.
Player asks for help.
Other players volunteer.
Player accepts a helper.

The Zombification card forces the cursed player to volunteer for no reward, it does not force the asking player to accept them.

Makes sense to me but glad to hear it from a different source other than a debate around my table while playing the game. Thanks.
