Re: Pole Dancing?
That all depends on what the character is hoping to accomplish.

Re: Pole Dancing?
Erotic Art isn't flirting . . . it's way past that stage, into shagging, flogging, or other pairs or team sports. That's why it's based on DX and has vague, PG wording. You could certainly use pole dancing as a complement to it, but that would be because you're using the pole as an, er, prop – much as you might use a pillow, a trapeze, or 500 gallons of Jello.
Flirting is always Sex Appeal. You could use pole dancing as a complement to that, too, of course. No contact would be required, though.

Re: Pole Dancing?
That is what the good stuff basically is. Go and search youtube for pole dancing championships. The stuff is hot, pretty much by accident and it is primarily gymnastic stunts in sexy clothes.
It is any combination of dancing, acrobatics and sex appeal depending on what bit you are focusing your act on. Quote:

Now maybe it should be the lower of acrobatics and dancing or acrobatics and sex appeal or all three. And probably most people who have it have a specialized pole dancing acrobatics skills. |

Re: Pole Dancing?
Of course not. That's acrobatics. And that's beside the point. Pointing to a dance that involves vigorous physical movement does not necessarily mean it involves full acrobatics.

Re: Pole Dancing?
Acrobatics has little in common with pole dancing, other than some degree of athleticism . . . which could also be said of Hiking, Karate, Running, Skiing, and Wrestling. As defined in GURPS, Acrobatics is the skill of "combat athletics": breaking falls, dodging blows, evading enemies, rapidly mounting horses, standing up quickly after a fall, swinging from chandeliers, tumbling to become a harder target, etc. A lot of gymnastics would be Dancing – this is particularly true of rhythmic gymnastics. Similarly, dancing would have to all but abandon aesthetics for hang time before it would move from Dancing to Acrobatics. The Dancing skill covers everything from vaulting over bulls to breakdancing to fancy swing with aerial partner tosses; that's why each kind is at -5 for those who don't know it. For the most part, shuffling around as at a wedding or a rock concert isn't capital-D Dancing, even if it's small-d dancing – that's just part of Carousing (which, like Hiking, Running, and Skiing, is HT-based, not DX-based).
