[DF] Tiny Tools Effective ST for Damage Purposes
DF 3 p. 8 defines Tiny Tools and scaling weapons down to fit really small characters. What happens to the effective ST for damage purposes of these scaled weapons?
For example, the Tiny Tools box uses the thrusting greatsword as an example. For a SM 0 character, that is a ST 12 requirement. Per the rules of Basic p. 270, that character could have an effective ST up to 36 for the purpose of damage. Scaling that same thrusting greatsword down for a pixie yields a ST 1 version that is made for SM -6. If the rules of Basic still apply, the pixie character could only use ST 3 for damage purposes of the sword. That would be a huge problem for someone wanting to make a pixie barbarian or something that could have ST 15. Would you just allow the pixie barbarian to use all of their ST and forget the Basic rules on effective ST? |

No, not really, being tiny should come with consequences. If a pixie wants to be an effective combatant, he should drop rocks on people, since their damage depends on mass and not on size.

You could use the rules for oversized weapons from Fantasy Tech 2, to make a pixie buster sword or something.

Re: [DF] Tiny Tools Effective ST for Damage Purposes
Yeah, those would be ideal for negating a large portion of the -6 to the damage. However, if there is still the cap on effective ST that the pixie can put behind the weapon then it is rather useless. Even a Double-Wide Sword that normally takes ST 42 to use for SM 0 would suddenly only have ST 4 for a SM -6 pixie. That means if the three times ST requirement still holds, the pixie character could only use ST 12 for damage.
