Default Reduced Duration / reverse Independent

Salutations!

Some advantages have effects that can last for several seconds (e.g. standard Affliction), minutes (e.g. Affliction with Incapacitation) or even longer (e.g. Binding) after the initial application. The Requires Concentrate modifier applies only to the maneuver needed to use the advantage.

What if I want the effect to last only as long as I keep using the advantage, e.g. taking consecutive Concentrate maneuvers? An example for this could be telekinetic Binding.

Basically I'm looking for the reverse of the Independent modifier.

This is "Requires Concentrate" from GURPS Powers (p. 112) and is worth -15% as a limitation. Add Reduced Duration from GURPS Powers (p. 21) for powers with a duration of greater than 1.

D'oh! I totally misread Requires Concentrate. How embarrassing. Well, that's the obvious solution, then. Thanks for pointing it out.

But I'm not really clear on the addition of Reduced Duration, in that case. The way I read it now, the effect shuts down as soon as I stop taking Concentrate maneuvers. Would Reduced Duration not require that I use the ability anew every turn, with a whole new roll and/or Quick Contest?

Some traits would let your effect last for a a proscribed time and then you'd need to concentrate again. In most cases you won't need Reduced Duration - but I thought I'd mention it.

Gurps PSIONIC Powers (p. 21) for the Reduced Duration one...
