Ogre Minis Revision Issue: Partial Damage for SHVY
Here's an optional rule that I really thought had already seen print . . . but if it did, I can't find it. Want to give it a try?
Partial Damage for Superheavies A Superheavy Tank may be considered a small manned Ogre, with its own record sheet. In that case, it is only destroyed outright by an XX result or a ram by a Size 9 unit. This makes SHVY units considerably tougher; increase their cost to 18 points. On any X result, roll one die. 1, 2 – One gun is lost. Unit is disabled. If both guns were already gone, unit is destroyed. 3 – Tread damage. Roll 2 dice and mark off that many treads. Unit is disabled. 4 – Major tread damage. Roll 4 dice and mark off that many treads. Unit is disabled. 5 – Mobility kill; mark off all treads. Unit is disabled. 6 – Unit is destroyed, per normal X result. SHVY Record Sheet Guns 0 0 24 Tread Units: 6” 0 0 0 0 5” 0 0 0 0 4” 0 0 0 0 3” 0 0 0 0 2” 0 0 0 0 1” 0 0 0 0 Tread units are also marked off if the SHVY falls (see the Falling Damage table), rams a building or Size 5+ unit, or is rammed by a Size 5+ unit. It is treated as a Mark I for ramming purposes. |

SHVYs don't have AP guns any more?

Ogre has enough record keeping, I feel it wouild be unwise to add to it.
Besides, I like my SuprHeavies just fine. Now if only someone will give my regular HVY tanks a single AP battery

as much optional material as possible, is always fun. i am about as creative as a lump of old cheese, so all the help i can get is wonderful.
now all i need is a robotic sex and wargame partnerbot, and i am in business. |

Re: Ogre Minis Revision Issue: Partial Damage for SHVY
I think it's worth including it. The SHVYs are pretty damn large (certainly comparable with Ogres) and most encounters wouldn't involve that many of them, so additional record keeping for the owning side would be minimal.
Obvious question: is the extra work worth the benefit? IMO it is. Now, the big question is, are we going to refer to the 2 main guns as cannon rather than cannons? Please? At the least, let's never call them guns : ) "What's this? Are we going to tickle each other to death?" " No sir! We fight with cannon!". |

As an optional rule I'm fine with it.
Like the SHVY to keep its AP stuff too though. |

But then the thought of enormous giant killer robot tanks pounding the world to gristle whilst singing repetitive melodies or chanting from the bible, brings both amusement and sheer terror : ) Personally I think that all rules are optional but then highlighting it as a discretionary rule in the manual wouldn't be a bad idea. |
