Permeation Wood
I am the GM. For my DF I am creating a shapeshifting shide race that can change between shide, wolfen and wolf forms.
For the wolf form I want him to move through trees, bushes, hawthorn bushes and barriers of wood (such as wooden doors). I have seen that Permeation Wood is a good choice but I have a question. Does Permeation Wood includes only barriers such as walls and doors? Does it include trees, bamboo thicket, or hawthorn bushes? Should I add Cosmic +50%? (too expensive!) Thanks hive mind!

Re: Permeation Wood
Wood is wood. It doesn't matter if it's a living tree, a pile of lumber, or, a house.

Re: Permeation Wood
I wouldn't be nitpicky about trees vs. bamboo vs. palms either and actually go for treating "wood" as a shorthand for "plant matter". Said wolf should be able to run through any tree, and not get stuck by one covered in ivy...
(Although I probably would include some kind of "taboo" wood for mythological/fun reasons. Either some pretty high-ranking wood like oak, something a bit more involved -- oak struck by lightning, lime trees from pilgrimage routes -- or something that's usually a bad building material, like plane trees) |

Re: Permeation Wood
For iron to work, you probaby don't really need to actually reinforce the door. Enough iron spread out so that there's no wodden space large enough for some wolf to fully pass through doesn't require a lot of nails and can be done by everyone. So if there's a wolf panic, the blacksmith is making some good money...
And historically speaking, hammering nails into all kinds of things (like e.g. heads) was surprisingly popular. |
