Re: Steampunk
Funny you should say that, I've just been stating up a Tesla gun, from my readings it was a particle accelerator.

Re: Steampunk
Here in San Diego it's really big. There are entire separate steampunk conventions as well as general interest sf, comics, or anime conventions. I've looked in at one or two of them, but what people are calling "steampunk" now really doesn't interest me much: It's more a fashion statement than an exploration of alternative technological history or Victorian culture.

Re: Steampunk
Most modern renditions of the Tesla gun (which he called "Teleforce") depict it as some form of lightning gun - usually something that in GURPS terms would have Cone and Bombardment (and RoF, if legal, to represent the possibility of multiple bolts striking the same target). I imagine he'd be just as ticked at this as he was at the media of his time calling it a "ray." And, yeah, from what I've read of what he wrote/spoke of it, it sounds like a nuclear powered, weaponized particle accelerator. A heavier, more power-hungry version of the blasters from UT would probably do it proper justice.
