Trying to find what sort of power this thing has because that's a pretty cool concept! Any mathematicians want to take a stab at it?

No math expert here, but, it just looks like a slingshot modified to do Imp instead of Pi or Crush. Maybe a bonus for quality of material vs standard slingshots, though.

That might work. I'm not an expert either =) That's why I was asking. I know a lot of physicists who like little puzzles tinker around here.

24 pound pull and 300-350 fps doesnt sound too promising, but its concealable (tiny), looks vaguely like an icepack (neato spygear), and has a really low report (as you would expect from a bow/slingshot).

24 pound pull can still put out an eye, so useful for highly skilled assassins.

I've seen it with a 30 pound crossbow bolt ricocheting backwards* off a shield and the nock going into another person's eye in the SCA (through the eye slot of a full helm!). Messy.

* Soft foam rubber "ball" arrowhead. The eye was saved and new face guards ended up being required for field battles (mesh too small for a arrow's nock to pass through).

You could probably take varmints with it. A proper slingshot in HT is 1d. That's something like .50 lead ball going about 200 or so fps, IIRC. They are shooting 1/4 balls at 350, so maybe 1d-3. Doug Cole can tell you much better on that. Anyway, it would hurt!

You could just use the statistics for a short bow of the same ST. From prior discussions, bow draw weight is about 2.5 x BL for that ST, so a 24 pound draw implies this thing is about equivalent to an ST 6.9 bow. Round up to 7 and it's 1d-3 (presumably pi for lead shot). Not a particularly powerful weapon, but not a toy either.

Ah! Excellent. 1d-3 sounds about right. You could kill a small animal with it, or take down a bigger one with multiple shots.

Sounds good to me. I thought the holdout possibilities on it were nice.

What's the weight of one of those darts, compared to an arrow? If The Deadly Spring has taught me anything, that's important :P
