Default ITL Cover Parties, Legacy vs First Edition

I've posted my video of my impression of the party on the cover of Legacy ITL here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzIYAV1xiRc

My overall impression (other than what the fnord is a Roman Legionary doing in a party of Normans?) is that this is a very serious party with a tightly packed formation using lots of armor that have found a defensible corner to stand their ground. The wizard seems to have a lot of stored power (in staff and possibly two powerstones) and they'll use magic to deal with the hobgoblins. (Note the diagonal between hexes lightning bolt attack.)

Now compare this to the party on the first edition cover who have much less in the way of armor, weapon sizes, and magical gear (not even a staff), and seem to have found themselves surprised by enemies on all sides. The only weapons apparent on the first edition hobgoblins are two handed spears, but this is a good choice for a group attack due to jabs.
