I thought about the Affects Insubstantial on ST, but one thing that stopped me was the possibility of an ST 10 (+20% on 0 is still 0) or lower (+20% on -10 is -12, getting more back from low ST for it). Edge case, I know, but it's not quite the same bracket as Super ST (where you're addition additional levels of ST above the base).

Christopher, how much did you charge for Touch Intangible? I was eyeballing an Affects Insubstantial advantage, converting the +20% modifier to a straight advantage - much like Long Arms under Extra Arms becoming its own advantage - but I wasn't sure of the pricing. Using the Extra Arms rules as a guideline, Affects Insubstantial [2] seemed too cheap.

You generally pay for ST advantages based on the amount of ST they apply to, so for ST 10 you'd pay +20% on 10 points of ST (costing [20]).

I don't think you should worry too much about ST 10, the OP was talking about deities, they should start well above values humans cannot even reach.

And I think you applied the advantage to your whole ST as Anthony said. I wonder if it's an all or nothing thing (don't have the book available, just a fuzzy memory) or you could apply the advantage to only part of your ST. But I can already the the exploit in that...

If I were inclined to go with Affects Insubstantial on ST, I'd be fine with allowing it to apply to only a portion of a character's ST. Sure, applying it to only ST 1 is cheap - but you can't really do much with an "insubstantial BL" of 0.2 lb.

RAW, however, I think cases where you modify ST (or other traits) in this way is very all-or-nothing - either you can affect insubstantial beings with your full strength, or you can't affect them at all.

A flat 15 points, Ted. In fact, I made it so all senses worked in the spirit world for 15/sense. It worked very well. Doug played the only elf in the party at the time so he'd be able to tell you what happened and how useful it was during the lone encounter of a ghost.

Well, I am the original poster, and I wanted to keep the concept open for less deific folks as well.

As loathe as I am to introduce new house rules in my projects, this one looks to fill a gap that's missing. I think I'll use this method; it's both Accurate and Simple.

I wrote about it in Pyramid somewhere. I think it was my article Mask of Humanity in the Strange Powers issue. So optional rule vs. house rule. XD

That helps! Optional rules are fair game. :)
