bouncing bindings
since DR 7 with Reflection bounces back 10 levels of Binding (page 24 of Sorcery) would it be fair to allow DR 1 with Reflection to bounce back 1 level of Binding?

Re: bouncing bindings
The Sorcery note is based on the Power Parry rules (see Powers p168). Assuming the GM is allowing Power Parries, per that rule, five levels of Binding are equivalent to 1d of Innate Attack or Affliction for the purpose of parrying each other. So, 7 points equals 2d (just like converting dice to adds), and 2d equals 10 levels of Binding per that 5:1 ratio.
A really strict interpretation might call for at least 4 points of DR (Reflection) to make up a full die, which would bounce 5 levels of Binding -- and just say smaller amounts rounds down to 0. But then, you don't have to buy IA in full dice, or DR for that matter. One point of IA costs 0.25 dice; few people would object to describing one point of DR as 1/3.5 of a die (especially if they using a armor-as-dice houserule). So having one point of DR (or power parrying attack) negating one of level of Binding seems fair, even on the conservative side. 4 levels of Binding = 1 die would be a closer match for these particular ratios. calculate the fractions of a die as 1 point = 1 Binding level, and don't worry about the difference between 0.25 die and 0.20 die. |

Re: bouncing bindings
Even though it's based on the rule for Power Parry, the description of Reverse Missiles makes it sound like you wouldn't even have to make an active defense roll (unless of course your DR had the Active Defense limitation).
Given what a strong defense against Binding this is, do you think it would be fair to allow Armor Divisor enhancements for Binding attacks for the purpose of mitigating this? Or should they just buy higher levels? 10 levels of binding costs 20 points, 7 levels of DR normally costs 35 but with Reflection +100% it would cost 70, so more levels of Binding would be cheaper, but Armor Divisor enhancements would be even cheaper than extra levels. Modifying Dice + Adds on page 269 talks about replacing +4 with +1d and +7 with +2d, here it seems to be working in reverse for DR. DR 5 could become 1d+1 and DR 6 could become 1d+2. Perhaps 2d-2 and 2d-1 could be options for more randomness, just like you might choose to change DR7 to 1d+3 for less randomness? DR usually just gives a bonus to the HT roll to resist an Affliction, do you think being able avoid the resistance roll entirely like this is a special case which only applies when DR has the Reflection enhancement?
