Cheat and the Three Handed Sword
First of all, I have a few questions on how the Cheat! card can be used. I'm sorry if this is explained in the rules, I must have missed it...
1. Player A has two one-handed weapons. Can he use Cheat! to wield 3 weapons (essentially making the weapon 0 Hands)? 2. Player A has one one-handed weapon. Can he use Cheat! to wield a two handed weapon (making the weapon 1-handed) ? 3. Player A receives a bonus for empty hands. Can he use Cheat! to still gain the bonus, along with equipping a weapon (making the weapon 0 hands)? 4. Player A wants to equip the Three Handed Sword. Can he use Cheat! to make it a 0 handed item, 1 handed item, or 2 handed item? Thanks! Last edited by ChargerFan2121; 05-01-2013 at 09:32 PM. Reason: Word Problems |

Re: Cheat and the Three Handed Sword
As far as I know when Cheat! is used whatever item it is used on no longer has restrictions against use. It is however still the category of item that it was so the Three-Handed Sword is still a weapon that uses Hands for the purposes of Curses and Bad Stuff. You can still carry 2 Hands worth of Items when you have a Cheated Three-Handed Sword.

Re: Cheat and the Three Handed Sword
Everything tremorlaine said lines up with the rules I have heard too. To specifically address the questions:
1: Yes, he could use Cheat! on either of his current Handed Items and then play a third 1 Hand Item, or he could play Cheat! with a Handed Item from his hand regardless of the number of Hands the new Item requires. 2: He can use the Cheat! on the 2-Handed Item, but it now uses 0 Hands. He still has 1 Hand to spare in this case to use on a different Item (or he could turn the other Item sideways and then play and use a second 2-Handed Item. 3: Yes. Cheat! actually forces the Item it is attached to to use no Hands. 4: As stated by tremorlaine, it uses 0 Hands when Cheat!ed, but still counts as requiring Hands for the purposes of Curses, Item Enhancers and so on. |

I can state, officially, that tremorlaine and Clipper have it correct.

Re: Cheat and the Three Handed Sword
Here is the simplest way I can think of to explain Cheat!: when you are looking at your cards to make sure you have a legal setup, ignore any Item with Cheat! attached to it.
That's it. Cheat! doesn't remove any properties of an Item or change its fundamental nature; it just means it doesn't count toward a legal or illegal setup. There are nuances here that are not appropriate for the 101 forum, but if you apply the guideline above, you'll be right 97.3% of the time. (It has a decimal point, so you know it's a precise figure.)

Re: Cheat and the Three Handed Sword
Is there some particular reason you're forcing me to do a search, when you, of all people, should know how to do one? ;-)

If you want to go off on this particular tangent, do it in the other forum. The original question was asked and answered.
