Just out of curiosity, what portion of the project's expense is the tooling? Is that the lion's share and knocking off the copies is cheap, or is it the other way around or somewhere in the middle?

Me too. Soon as I get the $190 (plus shipping) cleared up, I'm in.

The tooling will be the big ticket item, casting the minis is pennies once that’s created.

Tooling is almost always the most expensive part of this type of project. The minis are relatively inexpensive, but even that isn't free since there are factory minimums to meet.

Also, every color change adds to the cost. Each time the plastic color is changed, the factory has to clean everything using gallons of cleaner. Running all of the minis in black plastic has allowed us to keep the goal as low as possible. If we were to add a second color, that would have increased the goal. A third color? Another increase.

At the moment, our focus is on cutting the steel that makes it possible for us to even create the miniatures. Sticking to black plastic keeps the project as simple as possible and keeps the costs as low as possible.

In the future, if this campaign is successful, we can explore other colors of plastic, perhaps as another crowdfunding campaign. The good news is that such a campaign would have a lower goal.

I know there are no stretch goals, but what (if any) addons will be available after this funds?

We're still not 100% certain that we'll be using BackerKit for this campaign. We have some more work to do on that.

If we do use BackerKit, we'll likely offer as much of the existing Ogre line as possible. BackerKit makes it very, very easy for us to offer the back catalog items.

Thanks for the further insight into the process itself! It's always nice to get a better understanding of what it takes to make these things a reality, even if it does occasionally risk sausage syndrome. :)

Thanks for the detail. I'm always curious about how things work. :)

Less than $800 to 60%...slowly, surely, the treads grind onward.

Looking forward to getting a piece of this one, just holding out for the Go / No Go on Backerkit at this point. It's not going to mean the difference between "pledging" and "not pledging", but will change what I select for campaign perks.
