Chronic... something else
I was wondering about modifying the Chronic Pain disadvantage to indicate some other sort of chronic affliction? I figure it's a 0% feature if the value of the other affliction is equal to one of the levels of pain. But what about if it's not?

Re: Chronic... something else
Chronic pain seems to be priced at 5 pt/+20% enchantment to affliction.
So a logical(though no idea how balanced) approach would be for a base cost of affliction enchantment value/4 as the base value. I would likely cap at at some maximum value tough as bouts of sleep are really not worse than bouts of seizure and so on.. |

Re: Chronic... something else
The three levels of Chronic Pain are equivalent to Moderate, Severe, and Terrible Pain, respectively. For Chronic Pain, these are worth [-5], [-10], and [-15], while as Afflictions they are worth +20%, +40%, and +60%. So, it would follow that determining the worth of other Chronic <Affliction> Disadvantages would work by dividing the % value by 4, dropping the % sign and inverting the value, and then probably rounding to the nearest 5.
You'll want to test this to see if it actually makes sense. Does it follow that Chronic Choking and Chronic Seizures are [-25], while Chronic Sleep (narcolepsy?) is [-35] or so? |

Re: Chronic... something else
That seems to work for irritants and incapacitating conditions pretty decently. Not so much with Coma [65 points] or Heart Attack [75] though, as I'm pretty sure Chronic Heart Attacks will kill you a lot faster than Terminally Ill (1 year) [75].
