Default Ravens N' Pennies - GURPS Content Posts

I plan on using this thread to promote my GURPS posts on my personal blog (this is to weed out some of the other stuff I post). I've got a couple of different columns (see below). These are in addition to my Session Recaps for my own GURPS campaigns.
  • Boil and Bubble: Posts on all things magical and occult.
  • Carpe Blogiem: A catchall category where I talk about everything from my blog itself to my own games, movies as RPG, etc. - it's the daytime programming of my blog, you never know what might show up.
  • Gamemaster's Guidepost: Advice on how to run games, specific genres, etc.
  • Melee Academy/GURPS 101: This has been covered by Doug here and here. Most of my posts will probably involve magic, psi, etc.
  • Session Recaps: I've currently only got my Weird Horror campaign up (I run four), and since this is the current campaign I am running, I am disinclined to add back sessions from the others (for now).
  • The Hurt Locker: New gadgets, gear, artifacts, and other equipment. Includes load-outs in the style of GURPS Loadouts: Low-Tech Armor, GURPS Loadouts: Monster Hunters, and GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 13: Loadouts.
  • Triple Threat: Each post is about a specific creature (currently Cthulhu based) that have statistics for generic campaigns, Dungeon Fantasy games, or Monster Hunters games.

I'll probably update this thread (and my blog) every Tuesday and Thursday.

Triple Threat: Ghouls

These aren't your typical ghouls! These are straight out of Lovecraft (that's like straight out of Compton, but with less gangs and more Cthulhu eating you). With stats for generic campaigns, Dungeon Fantasy, and Monster Hunters, these carnivorous necromorphs should add a touch of horror to any campaign. Mmm, what's for dinner? Leftovers a la corpse.

*ahem*

Straight out of Ry'leh,
a crazy mutha-fnorda named Cthulhu,
from a gang called Great Old Ones with attitude.

Summoned out, from the deep out
rise on waves and bodies are hollowed out.
Investigators they fnord with me?
Elder sign be drawn to get me off yo back,
that's how the island sinks, the punk motha mi-go kind fo stink

The cultists chanting, and handwaving
When I climb on shore it their ass I be saving
To eat last, that's how it all ends, with me mucnhing on all your friends

Nyarlathotep's smooth
When we come, your minds lose.

The sing song of madness, to keep you dancing.
Die Vermis Mysteriies was read by Charles Manson

Hastur's name is rolls off the tongue nice
Don't make me say it motherfnordin' thrice.

Maybe I'll come in dreams and omens, no maybe
the eldar gods come when the cultists chant daily
yo weekly, monthly and yearly
Until all dumb muthah-fnordias see clearly

With their eyes open to the truth of the signs!
The entire world is in the end times.

So when the seas boil you'll avoid the shore
But Cthulhu is hungry as fnord

As I leave, cities I'm slaying
But when I come back, boy, I'm comin' straight out of Ry'leh.

also, I am loving your blog.

Perfect! I was just about to stat out Lovecraftian ghouls for my Monster Hunters campaign - this adventure takes place mostly in the sewers of a large city, and ghouls immediately came to mind as an interesting red herring/side plot!

:-) I'm trying to decide what to do next. I'm thinking I might right up the manifestation of a old one.

Triple Threat: Fluttermouth

It's a butterfly. It's so pretty. It's sooooo colorful...and then it opens its mouth and tries to eat you. You kill it. It explodes. And days later your skin starts to move on its on. There is something in you. Something eating you from the inside out. With stats for generic campaigns, Dungeon Fantasy, and Monster Hunters, these psychedelic flying mushrooms are going to make your players cringe and hope to God they never encounter them a second time. I call it the flutterby effect.

Triple Threat: Animated Scarecrow

One more day to Halloween, Halloween! One more day till Halloween, Silver Shamrock!

Among the multitude of spooky things that exist, the scarecrow inhabited by a evil spirit or animated by dark magic is easily in the top ten. Composed of hay, sticks, sackcloth, old clothing. They are made to look like a human, scarecrows are parodies of us - however darkly reflected. In Dungeon Fantasy they could be the creations of dark druids. In Monster Hunters they could be the creation of a rogue witch or animated by a dark god.
