Advice for a new player
Hello all,
I just recently discovered Munchkin and have only played several games. My family and I absolutely love this game! I have admittedly already bought all the expansions for the original game 2-8, and will probably end up purchasing the other themes. I have mixed expansions 2-5,8 in with the original cards as my standard deck (standard+ these expansions will be referred to as standard deck from here on). I just had some questions about expansion 6 and 7. (probably more opinion since I know these can be added as well) For the Demented Dungeons: The plan is to keep this deck separate from the standard deck and mix them in (with an abbreviated deck or towards the top) before game time to ensure the portals are accessible. Cheat with Both Hands I haven't mixed in/don't quite know what to do with. Can this expansion (7) be mixed in with my standard deck? Will it become too imbalanced? Or is this expansion more for mixing themed decks? Are there any cards you would take out if mixing with just the standard deck? Use the whole deck or use a fraction of it( how many cards)? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you! |

Re: Advice for a new player
I'm really glad to hear you're having so much fun with Munchkin.
You're smart to leave Munchkin 6 out of the deck until you're a little more comfortable with the game. The Dungeon cards change the rules in ways that could potentially confuse novice players. When you're ready to try it out, your procedure is exactly the right idea -- "seed" the top of the Door deck with the Portal cards. (You may also be interested in picking up Munchkin 6.5 a little later this spring, especially if you try M6 and discover you like it.) Munchkin 7 is designed to make games with larger decks a little smoother. For your purposes, I think I would pull out these cards: Ultra Munchkin and Super Duper Munchkin, 1/3-Breed and Chimera, Cheat With Both Hands and Cheat Like There's No Tomorrow, and Epic Junior. None of them are bad cards, but they do make things a little more complicated. Go ahead and shuffle the rest of them into your decks; you'll be adding some low- and mid-Level monsters, some new enhancers, and plenty of extra Cheat! and monster-adding cards so you can really go to town on each other. As you get more comfortable with Munchkin, you can start to add in some of the cards you pulled out. I hope this was helpful!

Re: Advice for a new player
Absolutely it was of help. Thank you for the quick response! It is pretty amazing to have this resource available even though this game has been around for awhile. It just helps the spread of the game. Friends have already put the set on their "wish list".
