Default TFTools for GMs and Players

With the Kickstarter winding up as what I’d have to categorize as a smashing success, we will soon begin looking at the future. Of course, we all know you are going to want new GM adventures, programmed quests, setting packages and other written material by the best game writers we can find.

So how about TFTools to help GMs and players? The megahex tiles and GM screen are TFTools. What else would enhance your play?

(Maybe leave counters / cardboard heroes / miniatures for a separate thread of their own. That’s a whole thing unto itself that deserves separate attention.)

What do you need and want?

  • “Square megahex” tiles
  • “Scatter terrain” counters
  • Cardboard Heroes like the DF ones

I remember hand drawing a big hex sheet of poster paper (an excercise in geometry) and using a large sheet of acetate and a grease pencil to draw walls and other features. It worked well for larger set-pieces, but we had to be careful not to smudge the counters.

How about a clear sheet with megahexes marked off to lay over a regular (tactical) map?

Edit: It was fun to use a huge tactical map. Longer ranges and distances gave a few more options than the in-your-face feeling of the wizard and melee maps.

Hi Everyone, Guy.
Some nice terrain would be great.

Warm regards, Rick

I second this. I have a ton of Paizo’s Pathfinder maps. I would like to reuse them by overlaying a clear hex map on top.

I pasted photocopies of the megahexes to poster board and cut them out. (Now, we get pre-made dry erase megahexes. Kids these days just don't understand the struggle...)

We had wet-erase roll-up mats with hexes even back then, though I didn't get one of my own for another ten years, I don't think.

The Limited Publishing License writers of some of these adventures and such you're looking for would probably want experienced TFT players to playtest them. How about a site for volunteer TFT play testers that the writers can contact?

Agreed. I posted a question about this elsewhere, asking if there was a thread or such here in which to solicit playtesters. If the license agreement succeeds I can see the value in a more broad kind of resource thread as well, for people looking for document designers and illustrator and such for their books.
