Do your characters know they have unique or Temporal Inertia?
Or is this something for the players alone.
If the characters know, how do they find out? |

Seems pretty setting specific. Odds are most dont know until something happens that shows it, probably through a time change.

In the Time Corps campaign, the PCs' organization employs characters with both Temporal Inertia and Eidetic Memory as "rememberers" of altered history.

In Infinite Worlds, I would expect that a few google/lycos/duckduckgo/whatever searches are done on multiple timelines before an agent is sent out, giving them at least an idea.
