Maybe domestic cats of the prime material plane are just that powerful. Nobody said it was rl earth. It's a freakin' fantasy universe with dragons and stuff. :D

Ogres being weak to mental attacks is quite obviously an intended design feature. Paper beating rock isn't a good demonstration of paper being overpowered.

True, but that doesn't change the fact that a 0th-level spell that can effectively negate the ability to act of a HD1-4 humanoid, even on a 50/50 chance, is still overpowered.
That's only very conditionally true, at best. Ignoring the expenditure of prepared spells, trading the wizard's action for maybe preventing one enemy action is not a clear win.

It's a great play if your level 1 wizard successfully dazes a solo CR 4 opponent, allowing everybody else to act with impunity. (But why is a level 1 wizard fighting a solo CR 4 humanoid again?) It's seriously counterproductive if your wizard dazes one of 6 goblins or one of 8 kobolds.

This thread is currently closed. The GURPS team will look in and (a) removes or move any comments that are more generic RPGs than GURPS, because those are in the wrong group; (b) possible one or more people getting infractions or temp posts for going WAY over the topic getting each other and forgetting that this is discussion about GURPS, not having excessive arguments with each other and forgetting that this is having a public forum.

If the GURPS forum decides that this is too toxic, they can start it or not as they see fit. For tonight, though, this discussion is done. (And, to be clear, this was reporting from outside before I went to look. So if you're part of the problem, please stop it.)
