Re: Vote up an Urban Fantasy Setting
I will close the current poll by the end of this week. Sooner, perhaps, if it seems that every likely to vote has voted and we are ready for the winner to be announced.

Re: Vote up an Urban Fantasy Setting
Since it's been two days since the last vote, I think you're good to go whenever you want to.

Re: Vote up an Urban Fantasy Setting
Huh. Dragons aren't the most popular Urban Fantasy monsters, though they do pop up from time to time, usually either as shapeshifters or spiritual plane monsters.
Ponder dragons as a sort of elemental, possibly associated with technology. Thus, a TL 3 dragon would deal in fire and steel, a TL 6 dragon might deal with steam and lightning, a TL 7 dragon might go nuclear, a TL 8 dragon might exist in virtual form on the internet, ... Provides an answer to the How did humans survive until the modern age? problem, since the monsters scale with the times. |

Re: Vote up an Urban Fantasy Setting
We will work out stuff on fairies, dragons, witches, and some of the questions Faolyn (?0 raised upthread.
As you guys voted for near future, let's first vote on tech level before we get into the more complex stuff: NEW POLL: TECHNOLOGY Please rate these options from 0-5 (Note I included zero). 0 means you don't want it, period. 5 is your first pick.

Re: Vote up an Urban Fantasy Setting
Actually, if TL 3 dragons are associated with fire and steel, and steel is bane to faeries, it suggests that dragons and faeries are in opposition to one another (also, the war might have moved on, so iron is no longer a factor for the fey).
On tech: 5 points: Other -- outright weird science, stuff that doesn't work in the real world but does work in whatever alternate universe this is. Take things the conspiracy theorists think work. 4 points: TL 8 with one area (computers, mechanical engineering, power generation, weapons, etc.) advanced a TL 3 points: TL 9 Cyberpunk Path (more advanced stuff in computers, VR, cyberware, holography, etc.) 2 points: TL 8 baseline/like today with some new gadgets but no major changes 1 point: TL 9 with no superscience but everything else from UT at that TL |
