For all the reasons above I think its worth the points.
More examples.... If with a group you get an extra 8 hours to do your own thing. Investigate clues, hack computers, patrol, work, party, social networking. move powerstones around, forage for better food, hunt while partyy is resting. If on your own you get all the above plus a job or extra travel time. Maintain spells with odd maintanence times, more time gadgeteering, research |

You can lower the cost a bit by taking Increased Consumption to represent being more active.
