GURPS News?
When might we see an update to GURPS News?
The last update was Sept 2010, and that one was 'delayed' by Horror. I know there was some hints (from the Austin GURPS Summit) of changes to the way things would be communicated, but all has seemed quiet since (at least from this side of the fence)? |

Re: GURPS News?
It's on the long list . . . but there's a question pending that I need answered before it gets bumped up near the top. In the meantime, I continue to review manuscripts, make rules judgments for writers, and do the behind-the-scenes stuff that actually makes products come out.

Re: GURPS News?
FYI, you should see the Stakeholder Report go up first, before any update to the GURPS news. After all, as goes the entire company, so goes the part of it that is GURPS.

Re: GURPS News?
Le sigh. I wish there were more GURPS customers. Looks like GURPS didn't even make the top four priorities.
(NOTE: I do not blame or criticize SJ Games. The card and dice games they sell keep Steve in enough cash to continue to publish GURPS supplements. We bow down to our card/dice brethren, and thank them for subsidizing our hobby. We also thank Steve & co. for continuing to publish the hair-thin-margins GURPS supplements. We love you guys! :-) hope that heads off some grumblings... |

I was most pleased to see the web upgrade being on the wish list and desires for things in 2011. :D

Re: GURPS News?
I was a bit surprised to see that Low-Tech had "very disappointing sales" in hardback. I took this as my cue to order a copy, as I've been intending to do for a while.

Re: GURPS News?
As much as we feel bad about poor Low-Tech hardback sales, GURPS fans shouldn't feel too bad: We've done the footwork. The failure was due to retailers not ordering from distribution. We got the book printed and into distribution; you guys bought it when you could. Unfortunately, not everybody could – it seems that in some areas, it wasn't on shelves because retailers decided not to put it there. That's something we can work on, but it's slow work . . .
Also, please note that this isn't a Low-Tech-, GURPS-, or SJ Games-specific issue. It's a bigger problem with costly RPG hardbacks in the current market. That said, if tons of people suddenly ordered Low-Tech from Warehouse 23, we'd be thrilled.
