Re: Blowing up Phobos
In some works of fiction, Phobos is written as being artificial, both for the anomalous density and the placement of Stickney Crater (right on one of it's rotational poles and it's center lined up with the moon's center of mass, suggesting a rocket nozzle or a blast crater for bomb-based propulsion).
When Spaceships first came out, I wrote up Phobos as a derelict alien ship. It was pretty well received.
