"The Car" is another haunted vehicle story that's kind of fun for a Saturday night ghost story.

Short stories: "Last Year's Hero" and "Rookie Sensation" by Ian Thomas Healy. Essentially Car Wars fiction with the serial numbers filed off. The author has at least one published piece in Autoduel Quarterly as well.

As I am typing this post, I am listening to the "radio" background music from Grand Theft Auto 1 and Grand Theft Auto 2. The audio files are in WAV format on the PC versions of those games. The top-down view of those games is like playing Car Wars with counters. :o)

Correction: The audio files are on the PlayStation 1 versions of GTA 1 and GTA 2.

I bought those games years ago when they first came out. My first thought was that they either had a special license from SJGames or were CW fans, and created a CW game with the serial numbers filed off.

And the radio stations from GTA2 are a hoot and a half.

The car combat computer game MegaRace is being recreated by Zoom Platform. The original actor who portrayed game show host Lance Boyle, France-based Christian Erickson, will return to play Lance Boyle.

The arcade and NES versions of the Spy Hunter game soundtrack are timeless.

The vocal and instrumental versions of the PS2 game SpyHunter from 2001, performed by the band Saliva, makes a listener want to autoduel on a real-life highway.

The other music in the PS2 game SpyHunter, and the music in PS2 game SpyHunter 2, are also recommended for car combat fans.

I have the old original Spyhunter game on a Midway Balley CD. Good memories. If I ever run another CW game, I'll burn the MP3s onto a CD to start the game.

Oh! Forgot about Spy Hunter! The local arcade in the mall (yes, the one that MH51 was played on) had a 'sit down' version of it. We would go and play and called it a cross between Car Wars and Top Secret RPG. :-)

Didn't the original arcade version have the Peter Gunn theme?
