Gurps Evolution Game
So I've been messing with this idea of an evolution based game for GURPS, loosely based on the game Spore. The game would be played over something like teamspeak using MapTools(if your unfamiliar, here ya go: http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=maptool). It wouldn't exactly be team based, each person would create and evolve their creature, starting at a very basic level and working their way up, you would only see what your creatures could see, maptools will help a lot here. I wanted player to be able to work their way up from basicly a single celled organism, to sapience, and eventually high TL's. Since it would be done over the internet, it would just be a game we would play every once and awhile, when people are available. Most of what I'm worried about is management of large amounts of creatures.

So, are you asking anything?
I assume you're doing the evolution as character development. How would you be distributing points? Are you letting them spend points on anything? |

Does no one remember Sim-Earth?

Re: Gurps Evolution Game
I liked the game. That said, my big two complaints were that the "path" of evolution was fixed and non-variable (no surprises), and that there was really no variability in competitiveness between forms - basically, insects were always going to be removed if it was them vs reptiles, and reptiles were only competitive vs mammals and birds in deserts.

I also enjoyed Sim-Earth, though I recall there being insufficient surprises for it to hold my interest as a young boy. The apex of life was always leaving the planet and declaring it a nature reserve.
