Default mobile-friendly interface for forums?

These forums are pretty hard to use on phone browsers. They just don't seem to have been designed for small screens.

I presume there have been proposals to do something about that. What's the state of play?

Historically: keep zooming. Thread 1 - Thread 2 - Thread 3

I don't find it that bad, using Opera (not Mini) on a Nexus 5.

Current version of Chrome works fine on my phone. Very slight weirdness with font sizes shows up rarely, and is easily fixed by zooming.

Followed the links. Read the threads.

So if I understand this, supporting a better mobile interface would require you to install a software module for Tapatalk. This might take an hour if things go well or maybe a day if there is trouble. But supporting mobile platforms isn't enough of a priority to justify this time.

There are other considerations, such as not chasing away people who despise getting the Tapatalk popup every time they visit a forum. (Note: I don't have a say in the decision, either way.)

That'd be me. I can read the forum well enough on my Nexus 4 and perfectly well on my Nexus 10. Tapatalk and similar crap would not be an improvement.

And since there's no version of Tapatalk for BlackBerry, that would make the forums unusable for me.

Can't that be disabled? It's the most annoying feature of Tapatalk. Mind you, I like the app, but the popups are extremely annoying.

The main problem for me is moving between pages in a thread. Those buttons labeled "2", "3" and so forth are extremely tiny on a 3.5" smartphone display. Everything else works fine, for reading. I don't see much point in writing replies, but it'd be useful if it was easier to follow threads from my phone.
