Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
I'm reading LeGuin's The Word for World is Forest. This leads to an interesting Weird parallel. LeGuin believed, as did most anthropologists at the time, that the Senoi had a culture that revolved around Lucid Dreaming. So picture a parallel Earth, much like our own in the 1950's, were Lucid Dreaming was a commonplace as the Anthropologists of the period thought it was among the Semoi and as effective as the people at the Esalen Institute thought it would be.

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
Speaking of the Esalen Institute, picture a world were all their New Age-y stuff worked out, more or less. A total crystal wavers reality. Think of the hippy themed alternative Universe where the two professor Farnsworths catch up with the two Benders and get the box back. That with more mellow grooviness. Remember, "Groove is in the heaaaaart!"

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
Eidolon: A setting where, starting in the seventies entities claiming to be the objects of worship of every single extant religion appeared on Earth. Which would be more impressive except that personifications of every corporation with a significant number of employees also appeared. In short, legal persons became actual persons.

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
Has anyone proposed a slapstick parallel? By the way, the locals have both Aspected Luck (survive slapstick) and high DR. Not to mention the Regeneration and Recovery. Outsiders, not so much.

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
Here's another world where national personifications are the people. The individual people are often called "the voices in my head."

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
This parallel has a nanoscale electrical oddity that affects brain development in children. Basically, people raised on this parallel have multiple personalities.
Mentally healthy people tend to have an order in the sequences of when their personalities show up. Some personalities show up only in crisis or other special occaisions. Mentally unhealthy people from this world would freak out Mister Hyde.

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels
This parallel is pretty much Captain Future's 21st century. The twist is that even with flights to Mars, undersea cities, household robots, telepathy, flying cars, and all the rest of the Pulp Sci-Fi tropes, this is our world's 2018. The culture is the same, we even have the same celebrities.
Homeline is freaked out and wants to find out why this is happening.
