Default 3872 Orcs Running Away

So, on a 1 or a 2, I die, but on any other number, I lose that many levels.

Does that mean that it is impossible to run away (on a 5 or 6, I simply lose 5 or 6 levels)? Or, do I roll, and I can run on a 5 or a 6, but on a 3 or a 4 I would lose that many levels?

You roll a die to Run Away.

If you fail that Run Away roll you then roll again to determine the extent of the Bad Stuff.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

Actually, I should ask one more question...

If I failed to run away but WASN'T KILLED by the Orcs, thus forcing me to roll the 2nd time, and I was cursed by the Chicken on my Head, I guess the Chicken would help me by causing me to lose less levels, wouldn't it?

And, a little closer to death. Assume that a 1 is still a 1, even with the -1, so your chances of dying are 50%. . .

I would assume, since the Chicken says that all rolls are reduced by 1 that on a roll of 1-3 you'd die, 4 you lose 3 levels, 5 is 4 levels, and 6 is 5 levels.

No one has to assume anything, because I am officially saying:

* You do not roll again. If you succeed in Running Away, you do not suffer the Bad Stuff; if you fail, use the number you rolled.

* On any number 2 or less, you die. On any number 3 or higher *that is a failing roll*, you lose that many levels.

Really? Wow, the card should be FAQed and errated, then, because that is not clear on the card at all.

I will double-check the card when I'm not sitting in an airport on my 17th hour of being awake and getting ready to board the last leg home, but that's the most logical answer as I see it right now.

I strongly agree with bonetm. The Bad Stuff tells you to "roll a die", not to use your failed Run Away roll. There are other cards like this (Snails on Speed, Bipolar Bear), and there are even other cards that say some other player rolls a die (Wraith in Munchkin Bites! for one).

I see while writing this that you already agreed to look this up, so I'll wait for your decision, before further arguing the point, though.

I'm not sure I fully understand this one. How would the Orcs kill you on your first roll? The first roll simply determines if you escape or not. The second roll is the only one where the Orcs can kill you (assuming Andrew ends up agreeing with bonetm and I).
