New Advantage Extended Critical
This advantage costs 15 points.
It can raise a skill of 17 or higher to a 7. Must be bought per skill. Thoughts? I wasn't sure if it should be 15 or 20 points. |

Re: New Advantage Extended Critical
That increases the incidence of criticals significantly: they're 9.3% at 6- and 16.2% at 7-. Put another way, you get 74% more criticals.
What specific effect(s) are you trying to achieve here? Is it "Awesome characters get more awesome", or something else? |

Re: New Advantage Extended Critical
I don't really see this as being balanced, especially for combat skills. It raises your chances of getting a critical from about 1 in 11 to about 1 in 6. Combine this with Luck, especially the higher levels, you may never fail to crit.
With the combat skills this worse because critical successes allow no defence. Throw in TBaM/WM and skill 20, or Extra Attack and you'll just see attack spam. Any other combat option becomes redundant, which then makes combat boring as everyone does the same thing. |

Re: New Advantage Extended Critical
I agree that critical successes are fine the way they are. If you increase them to a seven it really has a huge effect on combat.
However, as a house rule, I lower the chance of a critical failure for those with high skills. At skill 20, 18 is only a critical failure on a roll of 4-6 on 1d. At skill 25, 17 is a success. At skill 30+, 18 is a critical failure only on a roll of 6 on 1d. It's a high powered campaign. No PC has gotten to 30+ yet.
