Piano wire as cinematic low tech weapon?
Any idea how to create a gurps balance weapon for TL4 that can make a range constriction attack? The sci-fi monowire whip is too much powerful. I'm thinking to something like a manriki that can be used to tied, squeeze and cut opponent and also grab protrusions of the surrounding to make quick moves (like when Spiederman use spider silk to swing from different places).

Your best option is an urumi.
Also, is it LT4 or TL4?

There are rules for a garrote in Basic Set, page 405.

For ranged, a whip. For close-up work, a thuggee scarf.

TL4 ^_^'
I search something like that: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RazorFloss with a reasonable cut power (it cannot cut off a limb or a chair). Garrotte is too much short and it can only choke. Last edited by Yafnag; 09-01-2013 at 10:32 AM. |

Not sure if its quite what you're looking for, but a hollow tube with a wire garrote threaded through it so that it protrudes as a loop out of one end. You slip the loop over the targets neck, and then pull the wire from the other end. You're separated from the target by the length of the pole, you have leverage on the target (while chocking/ cutting them them) by using the pole.
Basically similar thing to a dog catchers pole, animal control stuff (and slavers). Pole can be broken by the target but the angle is awkward, and they are of course fighting for air at the time. Still Melee not ranged though |

Why not just use lasso?
