Default "As soon as this card enters battle" effect reversal.

Hello, I was playing Munchkin last night and a friend of mine drew a card with an effect that triggers "When this card enters battle."

I forget what the exact context was, but he was going to lose two equipped items because of it.

Now, he had an item that would change the effect of any monster, and wanted to use it to get his two cards back.

Would he not still lose those two cards because the effect of the monster was instant?

Without knowing exactly what the cards are, it's difficult to answer the question. In general, however, Munchkin cards take effect as soon as they are played, unless someone uses a card or ability that cancels their effects (and uses that precise word).

My friend had "Particle Beam Wristwatch"

You may discard this card to turn any monster into a Level 1 Snake worth one level, one Treasure and no Bad Stuff. Cannot be used to gain the winning level.

The monster he drew face-up was "Evil Rick"

When he enters combat, lose an Ally you have in play. Will not pursue anyone Level 5 or below.

Does activation of the wristwatch negate/undo Evil Rick's When he enters combat effect?

Nope, because the monster was Evil Rick when it entered the fight.
